PKGLC Community Announcement - COVID19

Dear Community Members,

In light of the recent public health events and in an effort to stem the spread of the COVID19 novel coronavirus, we are sending out this advisory message to help share updates on our scheduling moving forward and to help our community react to significant changes in our daily lives and routines.

CLASS UPDATES

Partner Sites

Our partner sites and schools have paused activities for varying durations over the next few weeks. These partner sites are all working closely with their local municipalities to keep the community safe. We defer to their schedules and decisions for the classes that are hosted at those sites.

Outdoor Classes

Our current schedule of classes are suspended until further notice. We are doing our utmost to ensure that our community is staying healthy, and we recognize that physical exercise is an important part of our general health. For our monthly members we are offering a private session ($45 value) to encourage keeping your account active during this time. Private lessons are restricted to family members ONLY and will be limited to as few as possible. Please Email Us for information about Member Private Lessons.

What to bring to privates or for training on your own:

  • Water Bottle - Try to avoid water fountains and high-contact areas when possible.

  • Disinfecting wipes / hand sanitizer - we recognize that these items are in high demand and limited supply at the moment, but we highly encourage you to bring them with you for personal use.

  • Small Backpack  - to keep your personal belongings if moving locations is a possibility.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

  • DO NOT come to classes if you are sick or have had close contact with someone that is sick.

  • Wash your hands frequently with warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds.  Think you’re doing it right? Double check with this refresher.

  • Use hand sanitizer if hand washing facilities are not available.

  • Be diligent about disinfecting touched surfaces frequently.

  • Practice “social distancing”  - keep ~6ft between you and other people when possible

  • Avoid touching your face - The virus can enter the body through the eyes, nose or mouth so try to avoid touching your face with unwashed hands after coming in contact with other surfaces.

  • Cough into an elbow or a tissue - Cover coughs with a tissue or cough into an elbow. Dispose of tissues in the trash immediately. Wash clothing into which you cough.

STAYING HEALTHY

While it is important to make sure that we limit contact with other people to help slow down the rate of infection within the larger community, we also realize that staying active and maintaining our own health during this time helps us to be better able to fight infection, so now is a time to make extra sure to:

BE STRONG TO BE USEFUL

As one of the core tenets of our discipline and community, we want to make sure that we use our strength and resources to help each other.  Many of our team, neighbors, and community members may need a helping hand during these trying times, so let us know if there are ways that we can help (both as a company and as a wider community).

Some immediate ways to help:

  • Check your environment - Make sure that any elderly, handicapped, or solitary neighbors have access to basic requirements and have someone to call in case of distress.

  • Support local businesses! If you want them to be here after this is all over, reconsider before you stop memberships or services, many businesses will be struggling to stay afloat during this time.

  • Stay positive & stay smart - Fake and/or bigoted information can travel quickly in difficult situations, make sure to check your sources.

  • Ask for help if you need it!  We are a strong and caring community and we can work together to make sure that we watch each other’s backs.  A small favor or gesture can make a huge difference.

  • Have suggestions?  Let us know what we can be doing to help in the larger community!

Train hard, train smart, and stay healthy,

-The PkGen Las Cruces Team
